1931-05-20 Pete Sanstol w pts 10 Archie Bell, The Forum, Montreal, Canada - MONTREAL. Referee: George Rivet. Sanstol (115½), despite being badly cut on the right eye, lived up to expectation when clearly outpointing the clever American, whose crouching style made him a difficult target to get to grips with. While Bell (118) proved to be a clever opponent he lacked the power to bother the Norwegian and was worn down. It was no surprise when Bell ultimately ran out of gas to lose a unanimous verdict; the general consensus being that Sanstol won seven rounds, Bell two, with one even.
