1931-09-10 Tony Canzoneri w pts 15 Jack Kid Berg, Polo Grounds, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - WORLD. Referee: Patsy Haley. Down from a Canzoneri (131¾) left hook to the jaw after less than two minutes of fighting, Berg (134½) was not expected to last much longer, but despite shipping heavy punishment, mainly to the body, throughout and being twice hit low he bravely remained on his feet to hear the final bell and the unanimous decision that went against him. While the fight had proved that Berg didn’t have the power to disturb the champion, the low blow delivered in the eighth round appreciably slowed him down and in any State other than New York, which carried the No-Foul Rule, Canzoneri would have been disqualified.
