Line 1: Line 1:
1931-10-23 Lou Brouillard w pts 15 Young Jack Thompson, The Garden, Boston, Massachusetts, USA - WORLD. Referee: Johnny Brassil. Fighting on the defensive, Thompson (146) displayed none of his much vaunted punching power and boxing ability and generally allowed Brouillard (146¾) to take the play away from him throughout. Three times he was dropped, twice for ‘nine’ in the tenth and 13th rounds, and was unable to cope with the rugged body attacks as the southpaw challenger made that his target when romping to the unanimous points victory. While Brouillard was on the way up, winning 12 of the 15 rounds, it was apparent that Thompson had nothing much left to offer and after five more fights he retired.
