1931-10-27 Panama Al Brown w pts 15 Eugene Huat, The Forum, Montreal, Canada - WORLD
27 October Panama Al Brown w pts 15 Eugene Huat, The Forum, Montreal, Canada - WORLD. Referee: George Rivet. Although allowing Huat (116¾) to make the running, Brown (117) was never extended in what became too one-sided to be even interesting, the champion consistently holding the former off with his long left-hand lead and only cutting loose when the challenger broke through. Towards the end, Brown was treating the contest and Huatt as he would a workout, and after virtually winning every round all three judges had no difficulty in finding the decision in his favour.
Following four overweight fights in North America, being beaten in two of them at the Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California by Newsboy Brown (l pts 10 on 15 December) and Speedy Dado (l pts 10 on 4 January 1932), Brown returned to Europe where it was rumoured that he would be defending his title against Kid Francis in Monte Carlo. There was much talk of title defences for Brown, especially coming out of California, but ultimately he settled on Francis.
