1933-07-11 Freddie Miller w rsc 4 (15) Abie Israel, Civic Ice Arena, Seattle, Washington, USA - NBA. Referee: Tommy McCarthy. Taking place in a State where boxing had only become legalised on 1 July, this fight left a bad taste in the mouth after Israel (125½) was put down from a Miller (125¾) body punch in round three claiming a foul. Having counted to 'four', the referee then gave the challenger a three-minute rest on the grounds that while the foul was doubtful he would let him have the benefit of the doubt. Following that, the unfortunate Israel was put down twice in the fourth before being rescued by the referee when it became apparent that he was being outclassed.
