1934-01-01 Freddie Miller w pts 10 Jackie Sharkey, Music Hall Sports Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NBA. Referee: Lou Bauman. Sent over by a right-left to the jaw halfway through the second round, the challenger only showed in the fourth and seventh before being put down for ‘seven’ in the tenth and then being forced to survive a hail of jabs to the final bell. Hurt on several occasions, Miller (124½) was also cut over the left eye in the seventh after being roughed up by Sharkey (125½), but beat the latter at his own game in the eighth when holding his right arm tight while pounding the kidney and firing in lefts to the jaw. The decision in Miller’s favour was unanimous.
