1934-05-03 Marcel Thil w pts 15 Gustave Roth, Sports Palace, Paris, France - IBU. Referee: S.Mazzia. Although Thil (157½) appeared to win handsomely, outslugging Roth (157½) round after round, one of the judges actually saw it as a draw. There had been high hopes for Roth, but he made the mistake of mixing it with the champion instead of getting on his bike. Regardless of that, with the challenger never looking likely to win Thil retained his title by a majority decision while picking up Roth’s European crown at the same time.
