1934-05-03 Vince Dundee w pts 15 Al Diamond, State Armory, Paterson, New Jersey, USA - NY/NBA. Referee: Phil Erhardt. Although Dundee (157) ultimately proved too experienced for the youthful challenger, the early rounds saw Diamond (156½) pile up a lead with good, clean punches to the head. Halfway through the fight, Diamond was well in front and was belabouring Dundee with right-hand swings to the jaw, despite lacking the power to finish matters. Dundee, who was obviously pacing himself, kept banging away with right hands and from the eighth round through to the 14th his superior ringcraft gave him the advantage. In the 14th, Dundee, who was tiring, was cut under the left eye and although Diamond speeded up the referee’s decision went to the champion.
