1934-09-20 Freddie Miller w pts 15 Nel Tarleton, Anfield Stadium, Liverpool, England - NBA/GB. Referee: C. H. Douglas. Although Tarleton (126) put up good resistance, his boxing being a delight to watch, Miller (125½) was always one step ahead, coming in under the defence to fire off southpaw blows to head and body, and it came as no surprise when he received the referee’s verdict. Smashed to the floor in round four it had looked all over for the challenger, but he came back well despite having great difficulty locating Miller’s right leads and being unable to get his own punches off effectively. After being warned for a low blow in the 12th, Tarleton was put under severe pressure for the remaining rounds and finished the fight with his right eye completely closed.
