1936-01-20 Marcel Thil w disq 4 (15) Lou Brouillard, Sports Palace, Paris, France - IBU. Referee: Maurice Nicod. Having outpointed the Canadian southpaw in an overweight contest two months previously, Thil (158¾) was more than happy to put his title on the line against the hard-hitting Brouillard (154½) in this one and appeared to be piling up the points until he was butted several times in the third round. Brouillard was quite rightly admonished by the referee and when he laid Thil out with a body punch, adjudged to have been low, in the next session he was immediately disqualified. Although many of the bystanders felt that the blow was legal, due to the earlier warning the challenger was not given the benefit of the doubt.
