1936-02-10 Babe Risko w pts 10 Tony Fisher, Laurel Gardens, Newark, New Jersey, USA - NY/NBA. Referee: Whitey Healey. Scorecard: 8-1. Failing to add to his reputation in front of a disappointed crowd, the champion fought crudely at times, looking stiff and wild with little control. Although Risko (159¾), cut over the left eye in the third from a clash of heads, did enough to warrant the referee’s decision when concentrating on the body, Fisher (159¾) failed to live up to expectation and took a beating throughout. Risko’s next defence would be against Freddie Steele, a hard-hitter who could also box when needed. Steele well warranted his title chance, having beaten Risko (w pts 10 on 24 March at the Civic Ice Arena, Seattle, Washington) in a non-title fight and Tony Fisher (w pts 10 at the same venue on 28 April) in his last two contests.
