1936-08-04 Henry Armstrong w pts 10 Baby Arizmendi, Wrigley Field, Los Angeles, California, USA - CALIFORNIA. Referee: George Blake. In winning the Californian version of the title on the referee’s decision, Armstrong (125½) took every round with blistering two-fisted attacks that bulled Arizmendi (126) on to the ropes and kept him there. Arizmendi was always trying to fight back, but after injuring a hand in the third and getting cut on the eyes, nose and mouth his options were limited and he was generally overwhelmed by the sheer ferocity and amounts of leather coming his way right though to the final bell.
