1939-06-27 [[Al Hostak]] w rsc 4 (15) [[Solly Krieger]], Civic Stadium, Seattle, Washington, USA - NBA. Referee: Jim Braddock. The champion did not seem to be the same man who took the title from Hostak the previous November, possibly because he had to steam off 18 pounds before he could make the weight. Straight from the opening bell Hostak (158¼) went looking for Krieger (160), staggering him with a crunching right to the jaw early on before going for the body in the second round in an effort to slow him down. The third session saw the beginning of the end as Hostak blasted in big punches to drop Krieger twice, the second time seeing the Slav extract saved by the bell. In the fourth it was all over as Hostak hammered Krieger to the boards for ‘nine’ and then smashed him down again almost before he had time to think, bringing the referee into play with a 46-second stoppage.
