1939-07-05 Maxie Berger w pts 10 Wesley Ramey, The Forum, Montreal, Canada - MONTREAL. Referee: Tommy Sullivan. Billed as a world title fight and recognised as such by the Montreal Boxing Commission who recommended that the NBA revive the weight class, Berger (139¾), putting two defeats at the hands of Ramey (132¼) behind him, scored three knockdowns over his old foe to secure a unanimous points victory. Although his game plan was carefully thought through he was occasionally drawn on to punches by the wily Ramey, but scoring effectively with counter punches he ultimately had a little too much power for the American.
