1940-05-10 Lew Jenkins w rsc 3 (15) Lou Ambers, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - NY. Referee: Billy Cavanagh. Unleashing non-stop aggression from the opening bell, Jenkins (132) set out his stall with lefts and rights all crashing in on their target and the unfortunate Ambers (134½) being unable to avoid them. Knocked down twice, in the first and second rounds, Ambers merely had time for defence and in the third session Jenkins rushed out of his corner to quickly belt him through the ropes for yet another count. Getting up bleary eyed, the end was nigh and having been put down again from a two-fisted barrage and taking a nine count before rising he was being hit at will by Jenkins before the referee came to his rescue on the 1.29 mark.
