1941-07-01 [[Richie Lemos]] w co 5 (12) [[Petey Scalzo]], Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA - NBA. Referee: Benny Whitman. While it was a quiet start, and probably even coming into the fifth round, Lemos (125¼) switched to southpaw, his natural style, and immediately staggered Scalzo (126) with a corking left which was followed by a torrent of lefts and rights to the head. There was to be no respite, a solid left dropping the champion for a count of ‘nine’, and back up on his feet he was set about before another crackerjack of a punch sent him crashing to be counted out on the 2.02 mark.
