In a return contest, Ortiz (117½) was in no mood to let this one go the distance and he soon got down to business, looking to subdue Robleto (117) in quick time. For three rounds the pair stood toe-to-toe, but following that it was all Ortiz. Having knocked the challenger down twice in the sixth with body blows and after hammering him all over the ring in the seventh the referee called it off on the 1.45 mark.
