1948-05-25 [[Ike Williams]] w pts 15 [[Enrique Bolanos]], Wrigley Field, Los Angeles, California, USA - WORLD. Referee: Charles Randolph. Scorecards: 88½-76½, 85½-79½, 82-83.  Stalking Bolanos (134) throughout, the champion, who was looking to repeat his earlier victory over his rival, found him more durable than before. Although Williams (135) outfought Bolanos over the opening four rounds, the man from Los Angeles came back with solid hooks to head and body win four of the next five sessions before the battle took a decided turn in the former’s favour in the tenth. From here to the final bell, Williams made all the running despite desperate resistance from Bolanos, who was almost knocked out in the 13th and cut over the left eye in the 14th. That aside, Bolanos never gave up hope of winning and fought on even terms in the final before going down on a split decision.
