1950-06-05 Sugar Ray Robinson w pts 15 Robert Villemain, Municipal Stadium, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - PENNSYLVANIA. Referee: Charles Daggert. Scorecards: 12-3, 12-3, 10-5. Despite not being in distress at any time and finishing the contest unmarked, the stocky, bobbing and weaving Villemain (159½) was as good as outclassed by Robinson (155) in their battle for the vacant Pennsylvanian version of the title. Forcing the action from the start, Villemain, who was dropped in the 12th for ‘two’, was continually caught by jabs and hooks as Robinson eased his way through the contest and it was only the Frenchman’s ruggedness that kept him in the fight.
