The fight appeared much closer to the reporters than to the judges. There were no real highlights and no infighting, with the challenger, Allen (112), not given the opportunity to work on Shirai’s body by a referee who broke up all close-quarter milling. It was also noticeable that Shirai (110½) often used the open glove.
