1954-08-20 [[Carl Bobo Olson]] w pts 15 [[Rocky Castellani]], Cow Palace, San Francisco, California, USA - WORLD. Referee: Ray Flores. Scorecards: 87½-77½, 84-80, 89-76. When the champion initially failed the weight at the official weigh in, Castellani’s manager tried to claim the title for him but was overruled by the chairman of the Californian Boxing Commission, who allowed Olson (160) two hours to get the extra eight ounces off. It did not seem to worry Olson who stalked and punished Castellani (160) from the opening bell. Despite this, Castellani fought hard and proved to be an excellent counter puncher, often catching Olson on the way in. In the 11th he put Olson down for ‘three’, but on getting up the latter went after his man and in the 12th, following a furious body attack, Castellani was dropped for ‘nine’ by a hard right to the jaw. Although Castellani, who fractured a bone in his left hand, tried to get back he was never in the fight from there on in and the scores reflected that.
