1957-05-01 Sugar Ray Robinson w co 5 (15) Gene Fullmer, The Stadium, Chicago, Illinois, USA - WORLD. Referee: Frank Sikora. In what was a tremendous turnaround from their last fight, Robinson (159½) regained the title for the fourth time in his career when knocking the champion out at 1.27 of the fifth round. At that point Fullmer (159¼) was just in front with Robinson seemingly tiring, but had been badly caught by jarring combination punches in the fourth. That should have served as a warning, but instead of being more cautious Fullmer came out on the attack and after running into two solid rights to the body and a cracking left hook to the jaw he was sent down heavily to the canvas where he was counted out on the 1.27 mark.
