1960-06-29 [[Gene Fullmer]] w rsc 12 (15) [[Carmen Basilio]], Derks Field, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - NBA. Referee: Pete Giacoma. Fighting much the same as he did the last time, the champion used his reach to keep Basilio (156½) at bay before countering to head or body. In the sixth both men sustained cuts and in the eighth Basilio was nearly dropped by two heavy blows to the head before a left hook saw him turn a complete somersault. The referee failed to rule it a knockdown. Although Basilio had a good tenth, Fullmer (159¼) was now on the move, throwing punches from both hands, and in the 12th after catching his badly tiring challenger continually to the head the referee called it off with just six seconds of the session remaining.
