1961-03-04 Gene Fullmer w pts 15 Sugar Ray Robinson, Convention Centre, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - NBA. Referee: Frank Carter. Scorecards: 74-76, 74-67, 74-60. This would be the last time that Robinson (159¾) contested the title. Having impressed in the first two rounds with classic left jabs, Robinson came under constant attack as the champion came on like a train in the third, the fighters even trading blows after the bell. That was the end of Robinson as a threat, and while he was never floored he was forced to muster up all of his reserves as Fullmer (159¾) initiated attack after attack. When Robinson was cut over the left eye in the 11th, although it made life even more difficult for him he gamely battled on to the final bell.
