1963-06-15 [[Eddie Perkins]] w pts 15 [[Roberto Cruz]], Rizal Coliseum, Manila, Philippines - WBA. Referee: Teorico Reyes. Scorecards: 73-63, 72-68, 73-67. Getting his long awaited chance to regain his old title, Perkins (138¼) soon got down to business when dropping the champion in the first session following blows to the head and body. Although Cruz (140) was up before a count could begin he was given a thorough mauling and had Perkins put his mind to it he could surely have halted his clumsy rival, who had no answer to the spearing punches coming his way. Unable to reach Perkins in the earlier rounds Cruz improved as the bout progressed, but he lacked the tools to worry the American unduly and went down on all three cards.
