1964-02-28 Sugar Ramos w rtd 6 (15) Mitsunori Seki, Kuramae Arena, Tokyo, Japan - WORLD. Referee: Nicholas Pope. Prior to the contest much was made of the champion’s difficulties in making the weight, but make it he did and for four rounds he was given a good scrap by Seki (125½), an awkward southpaw. Sustaining a cut over the left eye in the fifth, Seki was then put under a fair amount of pressure by the hard-hitting Ramos (126) and came undone in the sixth after a right to the jaw dumped him for ‘eight’. Back in the fight, Seki walked into another right to take a further count of ‘eight’ and on getting up, when it was clear that he was still groggy his corner threw the towel in, the finish being timed at 1.38.
