1967-04-30 Paul Fujii w rsc 2 (15) Sandro Lopopolo, Kuramae Arena, Tokyo, Japan - WBA/WBC. Referee: Jay Edson. Fighting away from home proved to be disastrous for the clever champion after he had well won the opening round when concentrating on his fine left jab and excellent footwork. However, that all changed in the second session as Fujji (140), ducking below the left hands coming his way, suddenly crashed in a right hook to the jaw that dropped Lopopolo (139). After just beating the count, Lopopolo was forced to take the mandatory ‘eight’ prior to coming under another barrage of blows from either hand which left him defenceless up against the ropes before the referee came to his rescue at 2.33 of the session.
