1967-09-19 Chartchai Chionoi w rsc 7 (15) Walter McGowan, The Arena, Wembley, London, England - WBC. Referee: Ike Powell. Boxing quite beautifully, McGowan (111¼) treated Chionoi (110¼) to a steady stream of left hands before picking up a badly cut left eye in the fifth round. Magnificently, the challenger went for the kill in the sixth and battered Chionoi all over the ring to have him on the verge of a stoppage, but on picking up another cut in the seventh the referee was forced to call a halt at 1.04 of the round, thus leaving the Thai a very relieved winner.
