Scorecards: 149-147, 149-147, 147-143.  Hanagata (112) had outpointed Torres (112) in a ten-round non-title fight in June, but was unable to repeat the performance over 15, being rocked with vicious counter punches in both the early and latter round. Strong in the middle rounds, the challenger staggered Torres several times without making it count and the fight ended with both men throwing overarm punches in what had turned into a brawl.
