1970-09-27 Yoshiaki Numata w co 5 (15) Raul Rojas, Nihon University Auditorium, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Hiroyuki Tezaki. Starting with an exchange of jabs in the opening session, Rojas (130) took the fight to the champion in the second with a fierce body attack, but when he appeared to slip down after an exchange it was surprisingly classed as a knockdown. Rojas continued to attack in rounds two and three and in the fourth Numata (130) was put down by a short left to the body for ‘nine’ before fighting back strongly. The contest climaxed in the fifth when the under pressure Numata unleashed a series of long left and right uppercuts followed by a terrific right to the jaw which saw the former WBA 126lbs champion counted out with 13 seconds of the round remaining.
