1971-02-27 Vicente Rondon w rsc 6 (15) Jimmy Dupree, New Circus Bullring, Caracas, Venezuela - WBA. Referee: Zack Clayton. Contesting the vacant WBA title, Dupree (173½) almost had an early win to his name when he came out for the second round swinging in punches from all angles and dropped Rondon (175) with a cracking left hook to the head. Getting to his feet, Rondon somehow lasted out the final minute of the session and surprisingly came back to trade punches in the third as if nothing had happened, Dupree ending the round with a cut on the right temple. From thereon Rondon took over and in the sixth a left hook had Dupree staggering around the ring taking punches without reply before the referee stepped in on the 2.58 mark to rescue him.
