Kobayashi (129¼) retained his title against the hard-hitting Arredondo (128½) with the minimum amount of fuss when outboxing his rival in a dull contest. Using his greater experience and producing a clinical display, Kobayashi avoided most of the wild punches coming at him while picking Arredondo off. There were no knockdowns.
