1971-06-03 Kuniaki Shibata w co 1 (15) Raul Cruz, Municipal Gym, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Ken Morita. Showing terrific punching power, the champion defended his title with a first-round win over a man expected to give him a lot of trouble. Always looking to get his punches off, Shibata (126) caught up with Cruz (125¾) towards the end of the first round with a heavy right to the jaw before unleashing a left-right combination to the head that dropped the latter flat on his back. There was no way Cruz was going to get up and he was counted out four seconds after the round had ended.
