1971-12-11 Nicolino Loche w pts 15 Antonio Cervantes, Luna Park Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina - WBA. Referee: Jose Gomez. Defending his title for the first time since suffering a badly injured arm, Loche (139) boxed well on the back foot to beat the younger Cervantes (138), who was kidded out of it for large spells of the contest by the crafty champion. At times, Loche, with his hands by his side, would invite Cervantes on to the attack and counter his rival with head punches, while the latter would appear almost nonplussed. Round after round went this way and although the challenger finished the fight almost as fresh as when he started he had nothing to show for it as Loche successfully notched up his fifth successful defence. All three judges gave Loche every round.
