1972-04-07 [[Bob Foster]] w co 2 (15) [[Vicente Rondon]], Convention Hall, Miami, Florida, USA - WORLD. Referee: Cy Gottfreid. In a match made to unify the title it was soon clear that Foster (175), the WBC champion, was too good for his WBA counterpart when getting down to business at the opening bell, landing solid left jabs and taking his man to the ropes. From the start Rondon (175) had looked apprehensive and he had every reason to be. Dropped early in the second by a solid left hook, his nose damaged and bleeding badly, Rondon was given the standing ‘eight’ count before being allowed back into action. From there on it would be just a matter of time and when Foster let the combinations roll followed by two cracking left hooks, Rondon crashed down to be counted out with just five seconds of the session remaining.
