Making it unexpectedly close for the first four rounds, the challenger took the fight to Arredondo (129¾) and almost dropped him in the third. However, the fifth saw Arredondo picking up the action after catching Martinez (129¾) with a right to the head and following a burst of punches a terrific right hook to the body the latter was counted out with 25 seconds of the round remaining.
