Attacking from the start with heavy-handed hooks, Carmona (134) lived up to his reputation when dropping the champion in the fourth and twice more in the fifth. Although Ramos (134¾) was still in the fight he was gradually being taken apart with vicious hooks to the body knocking all the stuffing out of him and in the eighth the referee intervened at 1.48 to save him from taking further punishment after he had been dropped again.
