1972-09-15 Ricardo Arredondo w co 12 (15) Susumu Okabe, Nihon University Auditorium, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: John Crowder. After deciding that attack was the best form of defence, the challenger tore into the taller Arredondo (129¾) from the opening bell, but was constantly met with a stream of left jabs despite landing the odd blow that kept his rival on the alert. Although Arredondo gave a classy display, there were few clean punches and it was not until the 12th that he took full control, producing a succession of hooks and uppercuts that left Okabe (129¾) on the floor to be counted out on the 1.39 mark.
