1973-01-09 [[Koichi Wajima]] drew 15 [[Miguel De Oliveira]], Municipal Gym, Tokyo, Japan - WBA/WBC. Referee: Hiroyuki Tezaki. Scorecards: 73-71, 71-71, 71-71. While most of the cleaner punching came from De Oliveira (153½), the champion never stopped working, despite much of his work being ineffectual in the early stages. However, Wajima (152), sending in blows from both hands, started to land more effectively from the tenth onwards as De Oliveira tired and by sheer aggression he forced his way back into the contest. At the final bell it was certainly close and neither man complained at the result.
