1973-02-09 Venice Borkhorsor w pts 15 Erbito Salavarria, Kittikachorn Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand - WBC. Referee: Sutee Promchairak. Scorecards: 150-138, 150-140, 150-136. Winning every round, Borkhorsor (111) cruised to victory, working the body over with hooks and uppercuts, and cutting Salavarria (110) up. The challenger was just not strong enough to keep his rival at bay and did well to survive to the final bell.

After Borkhorsor relinquished his WBC version of the title in July to campaign as a bantamweight, Betulio Gonzalez and Miguel Canto were quickly signed up to find a new champion.
