1973-09-01 George Foreman w co 1 (15) Jose Roman, Martial Arts Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WORLD. Referee: Jay Edson. In what was a fight that should never have taken place, Roman (196½) was virtually fodder for the hard-hitting champion and lasted just two minutes and failed to land a punch. Dropping to the floor under the first serious attack, Roman was then cuffed by Foreman while in a sitting position and although the Puerto Rican’s manager wanted a disqualification rendered or at the very least a five-minute rest for his charge he was overruled. Having knocked Roman down again with a right uppercut, Foreman finished the job with a tremendous right to the body that put the challenger down for the full count.
