1973-09-01 Ricardo Arredondo w rsc 6 (15) Morito Kashiwaba, Martial Arts Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Jim Rondeau. Although gamely attacking the champion throughout, Kashiwaba (129¾) had difficulty in reaching the target and was forced to take plenty of punishment, not least the stabbing left hand that was rarely out of his face. After taking a fair battering in the fifth round, Kashiwaba was again under the cosh in the sixth as Arredondo (129¼) picked up where he left off. Dropped from a two-fisted barrage to both head and body, the man from Japan somehow managed to make it up at ‘nine’, but after taking too many punches while on the ropes without reply the referee called it off on the 1.26 mark.
