With the challenger making an aggressive start, it was soon clear that he had no intention of going home without his old title and there were several heavy exchanges before Shibata (130) was dropped after less than a minute. Back on his feet, Shibata was soon under pressure again and after taking a short left to the jaw from Villaflor (129½) he was counted out with 64 seconds of the first session still remaining.
