1973-10-21 Eder Jofre w co 4 (15) Vicente Saldivar, Antonio Balbino Gym, Salvador, Brazil - WBC. Stalking the challenger for the first three rounds and punishing him on the ropes following fierce exchanges, the 37-year-old Jofre (124¼) retained his title when finishing his opponent off in the fourth. Coming out fast and closing in on Saldivar (125¾), Jofre had him bending at the knees from a right to the body and following a burst of punches a heavy left hook finally floored the former champion, who was counted out on the 1.40 mark. Jofre forfeited WBC recognition in June 1974 for failing to defend against Alfredo Marcano.
