1973-10-21 Eder Jofre w co 4 (15) Vicente Saldivar, Antonio Balbino Gym, Salvador, Brazil - WBC. Moyses Sister. Stalking the challenger for the first three rounds while punishing him on the ropes following fierce exchanges, the 37-year-old Jofre (124¼) retained his title when finishing his opponent off in the fourth. Coming out fast and closing in on Saldivar (125¾), Jofre had him bending at the knees from a right to the body. Then, after a burst of punches a heavy left hook finally sent former champion to the floor to be counted out on the 1.40 mark.

After Jofre forfeited WBC recognition in June 1974 for failing to defend against Alfredo Marcano, the latter was matched against Bobby Chacon for the vacant title.
