1974-06-27 Kuniaki Shibata w pts 15 Antonio Amaya, Nihon University Auditorium, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Yusaku Yoshida. Scorecards: 73-70, 72-71, 70-70. The champion found it hard to locate Amaya (128¾), who ran at almost every opportunity, and on six occasions the referee had to call the men together to ask for more action. The only time that the crowd got excited was in the tenth and 14th rounds when Amaya unleashed solid right uppercuts from close quarters, but unable to sustain the offensive for long Shibata (129¼) quickly assumed control.
