1975-03-15 [[Alexis Arguello]] w rsc 8 (15) [[Leonel Hernandez]], The Polyhedron, Caracas, Venezuela - WBA. Referee: Ferny Carpentier. Continually under pressure, Hernandez (125½) barely laid a glove on Arguello (126) and was completely outclassed, apart from several good shots stopping the latter in his tracks during the fourth round. It obviously did not help when Arguello ripped open a cut on the challenger’s right cheek, which eventually required four stitches, moments after the fight started and it was all downhill from thereon before he was stopped in the eighth.
