1975-04-04 Franco Udella w disq 12 (15) Valentin Martinez, San Siro Stadium, Milan, Italy - WBC. Referee: Raymond Baldeyrou. Leading on points in what was the inaugural contest for the 108lbs title, Udella (107), who visited the hospital immediately after the fight was called off, won by disqualification when floored heavily by a kidney punch with four seconds remaining of the 12th round. It had been a dull contest up until then, with Udella doing most of the scoring while Martinez (106½) was extremely negative.

The Italian forfeited WBC recognition in August for failing to defend against Rafael Lovera, following two postponements due to ill health and being unable to say when he would be restored to full fitness.
