1975-04-07 Victor Galindez w pts 15 Pierre Fourie, Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa - WBA. Referee: Waldemar Schmidt. Having his third crack at a world title, Fourie (168¾) kept Galindez (172) at bay for the first six rounds and looked to be on his way to the title at that stage. In the eighth he looked to be even closer to that objective when opening up a bad cut over the champion’s right eye. It was then that Galindez got himself going and from the 12th session onwards he battered away at a very tired Fourie, his sheer strength taking him to him to a very narrow victory. Although the scorecards were not given out as was the general practice in South Africa at the time, it was generally felt that Galindez won by just one point in what was a unanimous verdict.
