1975-04-19 Perico Fernandez w co 9 (15) Joao Henrique, Sports Stadium, Barcelona, Spain - WBC. Showing up well with his longer reach, the challenger, making his fourth attempt to win the title, boxed confidently for the first seven rounds as he kept Fernandez (139) at bay and scored with jabs and body blows. It was not until the closing stages of the seventh that Fernandez came alive when he battered Henrique (140) with both hands and in the eighth he was a transformation when leaping from his corner throwing wild, swinging punches, many of which landed. It was more of the same in the ninth before a tremendous right to the jaw smashed the Brazilian to the deck where he was counted out after just one minute of the session had elapsed.
